PRODUCTIZED OPERATING SYSTEM

AgentDesk Companion

How do you make distributed mobile-money operations visible, reconcilable and accountable?

Across branches, agents and shifts, operational risk appears in the gaps between transactions, balances, handoffs and corrections. AgentDesk Companion structures those gaps through reconciliation, shortage and overage tracking, correction workflows, risk monitoring and operational reporting.

Problem

Distributed agency activity becomes difficult to see between records.

Mobile-money agency operations happen across branches, agents, shifts, transactions, balances and handoffs. Operational problems often emerge between those records rather than inside one transaction.

The design question is not how to make an app busier. It is how to make distributed activity visible enough to reconcile, question and act on.

Evidence

A transaction is useful only when its operating context remains available.

The product records shift activity, cash-in and cash-out transactions, expected cash and wallet balance states, pending actions and transaction outcomes. Each is useful because it can support a later operating question.

Branch context, agent identity and transaction history make the underlying activity available for review rather than leaving an exception as an isolated number.

Constraint

Reconciliation must preserve accountability in a distributed operating environment.

Activity happens across different branches and agents, exceptions need accountable follow-through, and connectivity may not always be reliable. The structure must retain operational traceability even when the record is incomplete or an exception is still under review.

Guided USSD assistance can support selected flows, while sensitive authentication remains under the operator’s control. The system supports action without replacing the human boundary.

Judgment

Not every mismatch means the same thing.

A shortage, overage or transaction mismatch can require verification, correction, review or escalation. The system can make the exception visible, but it should not pretend that every exception can be judged automatically.

Reconciliation therefore becomes a decision workflow: inspect the shift and transaction basis, identify the exception and assign the next accountable action with a visible reason.

System

The operating model connects activity, reconciliation, exception and action.

Branch and agent activity becomes shift context; shift context becomes transaction and balance records; those records become a reconciliation basis. An exception can then move through correction, Risk Watch and a controlled action.

The productized architecture includes shifts, transactions, expected cash and wallet balances, correction requests, activity history, risk signals and operating reports as related parts of one system rather than a feature list.

Outcome

Distributed activity becomes visible, reconcilable and accountable.

The shipped Android product turns distributed agency activity into records that can be seen, reconciled, questioned, corrected and acted upon. That is evidence of a productized operating model for Ghana’s mobile-money agency context.

Measured changes in reconciliation accuracy, loss prevention or operating performance are not yet documented and require usage data.
